Al-Haqq is the Truth — not merely truthful in speech, but the very ground and source of all reality, the absolute Truth upon which all existence stands and from which all valid knowledge derives. The root h-q-q (حق) means what is firmly established, what is real, what cannot be doubted or shaken — and Al-Haqq is the Being who is real in the most fundamental sense possible. The Quran says: 'That is because Allah is the Truth, and what they call upon other than Him is falsehood.' Every idol, every false certainty, every thing made into an ultimate concern that is not God — all of it is batil (falsehood) in the end. Al-Haqq is the anchor point of the universe: everything else may be relative; He is not.
