Al-Hamid is the Praiseworthy — the One who deserves all praise not because He requires it, but because praise is simply the accurate description of who He is. The root h-m-d (حمد) is the root of 'Alhamdulillah' — the first words of the Quran and among the most repeated phrases in a Muslim's life — meaning praise is not incidental to the relationship with God but foundational to it. Al-Hamid's praiseworthiness is not dependent on any external opinion: even if not a single creature praised Him, He would still be Al-Hamid, still infinitely worthy of all praise. Saying Alhamdulillah is therefore not a performance for God — it is the human mind correctly recognizing the reality of what is before it.
