Al-Majid (the Noble) emphasizes the noble generosity and high dignity of the divine nature — the glory that expresses itself outwardly as honor and noble conduct. The root m-j-d (مجد) appears in the Quran to describe the Throne as 'Arshun Majid' and the Quran as 'Quranun Majid' — both described as majestic precisely because they carry the imprint of the divine nobility. Al-Majid bestows dignity on those He draws close to Him: the believer honored by Al-Majid carries a nobility that worldly rank cannot match and worldly disgrace cannot touch. His nobility overflows as generosity, goodness, and honor to those in His care — greatness that cannot be contained seeks to share itself.
