Al-Majid is the Glorious — combining absolute majesty with boundless generosity, magnificent in essence and magnificent in giving. The root m-j-d (مجد) appears in the Quran in descriptions of the Throne, of the Quran itself ('Quran Majid'), and of the divine attributes — a glory that is inherent, radiant, and overflowing into creation. Al-Majid's glory is not self-contained: it spills outward as generosity, as beauty, as the capacity for creation to reflect something of the divine magnificence back toward its source. The du'a of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) ends with a request for blessings invoking Al-Majid — and from that du'a came the blessed prayers upon the Prophet ﷺ that Muslims recite in every salah until the end of time.
