Al-Akhir is the Last — the One who endures after every created thing ceases, who outlasts the universe and everything in it, who remains when existence itself has been folded up and put away. The Quran pairs Al-Awwal with Al-Akhir in a way that describes the total temporal encompassing of reality: nothing is outside Him at either end of time. To know Al-Akhir is to be liberated from the anxiety of impermanence: yes, everything you love in this world will pass, yes, death is real — but what waits at the end, after everything has ended, is not emptiness but Al-Akhir. The Last is a Person, not a void; a presence, not an absence. The ending of this world is not the end — it is the beginning of the encounter with Al-Akhir.
